While we can’t guarantee rainbows, Telluride is a breathtaking location, with two waterfalls — including Bridalveil Falls, the highest in Colorado — and the 14,000 peaks of the San Juan Mountains surrounding the town.

TRAVEL

Driving is direct from Montrose or Durango on modern paved highways. However, care should be taken, remembering these are winding mountain roads and conditions can change rapidly, from sun to rain to snow (even in August!).

Three airports serve the area — the highest commercial airport in the U.S. at Telluride , Montrose Airport and the Grand Junction Airport. There are some direct flights from major metro areas to these three airports, although many people end up flying through Denver International Airport, our regional hub.  Rental cars are available at all three airports. Montrose has a shuttle service to take you the 60 miles to Telluride.  And there are taxis available at the Telluride Airport to take you the four miles into town.

For possible rideshares, contact KOTO-FM and ask to get on their Community Carpool (no last names please):  call their on-line number 970.728.3444 or visit <www.koto.org/?q=view/carpool>.  Ride shares are also possible to arrange on our Facebook group site — Telluride Mushroom Festival — as well as at our dedicated thread at the Mushroomery forums shroomery.org

LODGING

Telluride Alpine Lodging is a festival sponsor and they have special discount rates for Shroomfest attendees.

There are a number of free and fee camping spots in the region on Uncompahgre National Forest public land, as well as an in-town fee campground (first come, first serve, no reservations). The campground’s information can be found at <www.telluride-co.gov/index.aspx?page=59> or by calling 970.728.2173.

For other opportunities for hotel or condominium lodging in Telluride or in the Mountain Village, check the Visit Telluride website (shown above) or call Telluride Central Reservations at 1.888.605.2578.  While individual condos can seem pricey, if shared with several people, the price can be quite affordable.

Fungi magazine printed a great guide to planning your visit to Telluride for last year’s event.  Most of the information is still relevant.  Check it out below:
